A Podcast for Every Equestrian

The Red Mare Project is a podcast dedicated to horsemanship, science, and community. Behavior is communication. Whether it's pain, illness, or an educational misalignment. We aim to create a space where owners can share their diagnostic journeys, in hopes to help others in the diagnostic trenches.

Hosted by individuals deeply connected to the equine world, the podcast provides thoughtful insights and perspectives through interviews with experts and real-life stories. We encourage listeners to explore the nuances of horse behavior and care—reminding us that what we see as behavior may hold deeper significance.

Why are we called “The Red Mare Project”?

The red mare serves as a symbol for misunderstood horses who have been unfairly labeled as difficult, bossy, or unpleasant. This stereotype, often dismissively summed up with phrases like "that's just her personality", “your typical mare,” or "she's just a bitch," masks a deeper truth. Their supposedly difficult behavior typically stems from not being heard or understood. The red mare embodies this truth by demanding honest communication and active listening from those who work with her. When people fail to listen, understand, and fairly educate their equine partners, that's where the unjust labels begin.
